Bird’s-Eye Purpleheart ...

You don’t see many steam-bent Purpleheart drums because the wood is so dense and fibrous, it tends to splinter when bent. Master builder Gary Posey designed a way to bend Purpleheart and when he showed us the bird’s-eye planks he acquired, we immediately commissioned a custom snare. Featuring 1/4” solid steam-bent Purpleheart in a hand-rubbed bee’s wax finish, this drum sounds as good as it looks. It also has 1/4” solid hard maple reinforcing rings that give it that vintage tone, but the modern hardware provides plenty of attack and definition. Truly one-of-a-kind, the bright attack from the die-cast batter hoop combined with the control of the triple-flanged resonant hoop make this one of our favorite drums of all-time.

Also included are 30 individual velocity samples with 5 different velocities containing 3 round robins each: one set of 15 files for All Mics, and one set of 15 for only Room Mics (excludes the close mics 1-5 below). This allows you to easily create MIDI files and/or trigger replacements.  You can also use the Room Mic-only velocity files for layering or creating a unique sound enhanced by our incredible drum tracking room.
